What is Havening?

Havening is a psychosensory approach designed to promote well-being by using simple touch to help process unwanted emotions and feelings linked to distressing memories. The name "Havening" comes from the word "Haven," representing a safe place. The technique involves gentle touch that creates an electrochemical response in the brain, generating a feeling of safety and calm.

This process works like sending a reassuring message to your brain, telling it "You are safe." It's similar to turning off the brain's "alarm" system that gets triggered by distressing memories, allowing the body and mind to feel secure and at ease. Havening is used to address various emotional challenges such as trauma, anxiety, and stress, by reducing the emotional charge connected to difficult memories and fostering a sense of peace and emotional balance. Havening is also used to create good feeling states, like relaxation, calmness, confidence , excitement , building resilience, etc.
